Harris County seeks approval of a one-year FEMA grant extension for five port security projects along the Houston Ship Channel.
Harris County Commissioners Court is being asked to approve a one-year extension of its FY 2024 Port Security Grant Program (PSGP) award from FEMA. The grant funds port security work along the Houston Ship Channel. The extension covers all five active projects plus Management and Administration costs. It follows FEMA Information Bulletin 564, which created a fast-track extension process after a federal funding lapse ran from February to April 2026.
This grant pays for port security projects along the Houston Ship Channel. If the extension is not approved, work on those five projects may stop or funding could be lost.
