The Harris County Commissioners Court is the governing body of Harris County, Texas. Led by the County Judge and four precinct commissioners, the court sets the county budget, tax rate, and policies affecting public health, infrastructure, flood control, and justice for over 4.7 million residents.
For over 100 years, BakerRipley has been part of Houston's fabric. We run 30+ community centers across the city, reaching over 500,000 neighbors a year — from free tax preparation and English classes to emergency rental assistance and workforce training. United Way of Greater Houston is a nonprofit organization that helps people in the Houston area build better lives. They focus on three main areas: helping families reach financial stability, supporting early childhood and youth development programs, and connecting people to health care resources. They run the 211 Texas/United Way HELPLINE, which is available 24 hours a day to help people find food, shelter, disaster recovery support, and other services. They also work with donors, volunteers, and other nonprofits to address the community's most pressing needs, and they support programs that help veterans, families in crisis, and anyone struggling to make ends meet.
Harris County government serves over 4.7 million residents across the greater Houston area. The county provides essential services including public health, flood control, law enforcement, road infrastructure, and the justice system through its Commissioners Court and county departments.
