Abbie Kamin is the Harris County Attorney, the chief civil lawyer for the third-largest county in the United States, representing nearly 5 million residents. Commissioners Court appointed her to the role in April 2026 and she took office on June 15, 2026, becoming the first woman and first mother to hold the position. She leads an office of more than 300 attorneys and staff, representing the county in civil matters, protecting vulnerable children and seniors, and safeguarding voting rights. Kamin previously served on Houston City Council representing District C, where she created the city's first Women's Commission and led its first paid parental leave policy for city employees.
