ECDC Houston Multicultural Center

The ECDC Houston Multicultural Center (HMC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the Houston branch office of the Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC), a national refugee resettlement agency authorized by the U.S. State Department. Opened on June 17, 2024, HMC helps refugees, immigrants, and low-income residents of Greater Houston build self-sufficient lives. Services include reception and placement for newly arrived refugee families (airport pickup, housing, school enrollment, SNAP/Medicaid applications), workforce development and job training, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, cultural orientation, health screenings and referrals, mental health services, and interpretation in over 80 languages. The center also runs a Matching Grant Program to help eligible clients reach economic self-sufficiency within 240 days without relying on public assistance.
