Houston's oldest LGBTQIA+ youth program provides safe social spaces, educational programs, and support for young people ages 7-20.
Hatch Youth is Houston's longest-running social group for LGBTQIA+ young people ages 7 to 20. This program at Montrose Center creates a safe space where youth can be themselves and build lasting friendships. Every week, young people gather for drop-in social hours with educational programs that cover topics like health, relationships, and life skills.
Hatch also hosts special events throughout the year, including an annual prom where youth can celebrate in a welcoming environment. The program offers creative activities like art projects, music, and theater that help young people express themselves and discover their talents. Hatch matters because many LGBTQIA+ youth face bullying at school or rejection at home.
This program provides crucial support during these challenging years. Staff also help youth experiencing homelessness connect with housing resources and support services. For Houston families, Hatch offers education and resources to help parents support their LGBTQIA+ children.
Contact the Montrose Center at 713-529-0037 to learn about current meeting times and upcoming events.
The program serves youth from all over the Greater Houston area, including suburbs and surrounding counties. To get involved, youth can attend drop-in sessions on weekends at the Montrose Center on Westheimer Road. Parents and allies can volunteer or attend family education workshops.
Strengthens Houston's LGBTQ+ community through behavioral health, anti-violence programs, and youth support services.
