This memorandum of understanding allows Harris County Sheriff's Office to help Galveston County Sheriff's Office provide law enforcement services during Jeep Weekend in May 2026. Jeep Weekend is a large annual gathering that brings thousands of off-road vehicle enthusiasts to Galveston County beaches and communities. The event creates significant public safety needs that require coordination between multiple law enforcement agencies. This agreement matters because it shows how Harris County works with neighboring counties to maintain public safety during major events. When large gatherings happen near our borders, they can affect traffic, emergency response times, and resource availability in Harris County too. Our sheriff's deputies gain valuable experience working large-scale events, which helps them better serve our own communities during festivals, concerts, and emergencies. The partnership also strengthens relationships between law enforcement agencies across the region, improving coordination for future emergencies or events. Harris County residents benefit from these mutual aid agreements because they ensure we can get help from neighboring counties when we need extra support during hurricanes, major accidents, or large events in our area. The Commissioners Court approved this agreement, showing our county's commitment to regional cooperation and public safety. For questions about this agreement or similar partnerships, contact Mary Cesar at the email provided or attend Commissioners Court meetings where these decisions are made.
Harris County helps neighboring Galveston County with security during big events, which strengthens partnerships so we can get help too during hurricanes or emergencies. Our deputies also get training experience that helps them serve our communities better.
