Commissioners Court may vote to reimburse Houston for emergency services on Harris County toll roads at its September 8, 2026 meeting.
Harris County Commissioners Court will discuss and may vote on September 8, 2026 to repay the City of Houston for police and fire emergency services provided on Harris County toll roads. Houston first responders regularly answer calls on the 103-mile HCTRA toll road system. The item (File 26-5678) was introduced by Precinct 3 on August 24, 2026. The public may submit written comments to CommissionersCourt@hctx.net.
Houston taxpayers fund city police and fire services. When those crews respond to emergencies on Harris County toll roads, the county may or may not reimburse Houston. This vote decides whether that repayment happens.
