WHAT IS THIS? Harris County Commissioners Court approved a contract change for Frost Construction to build the East Harris County Healthcare and Social Services Hub on East Freeway (IH-10E). The amendment adds 5 calendar days to the construction timeline and increases costs by $16,169.77. This hub will bring healthcare and social services to east Harris County residents under one roof.
WHY DOES IT MATTER? Many east Harris County neighborhoods lack easy access to healthcare and social services. This new hub addresses that gap by creating a central location where families can get medical care, apply for benefits, and access support services. The project also supports our local economy through minority and women-owned business participation, which currently exceeds the 16% goal.
HOW DOES IT IMPACT ME? If you live in east Harris County, this hub means shorter travel times for healthcare appointments and social services. Instead of driving across town, you'll have these essential services nearby. The construction creates local jobs and supports small businesses owned by women and minorities in our community.
