When you call, you can say: “Hi, I saw "Harris County Approves Communication Software for Toll Road Authority" on Community Exchange and want to know how to take part.”
This contract pays for software the Toll Road Authority uses to send updates about tolls, road closures, and construction to people who drive or live near Harris County toll roads.
The Toll Road Authority receives Granicus cloud software for one year to send public notices through websites, social media, and alerts to residents.
The Toll Road Authority would not have this software contract in place and would need to use existing tools or seek a new purchasing process.
Harris County Commissioners Court approved a $19,259 contract with Carahsoft Technology Corp. to provide Granicus Communication cloud software for the Toll Road Authority. This software helps government agencies communicate better with residents through websites, social media, and public notifications.
The Toll Road Authority manages several major highways in Harris County, including the Sam Houston Tollway, Westpark Tollway, and Hardy Toll Road. Better communication tools mean clearer information about construction projects, toll rates, road closures, and emergency alerts. When you drive on these toll roads or live near them, this software helps ensure you get timely updates about traffic conditions and planned maintenance.
The contract runs from January 2026 to January 2027 with options to renew for two more years. Harris County used a state cooperative contract to get better pricing and faster purchasing. This saves taxpayer money compared to running a separate bidding process.
The contract was exempt from minority and women-owned business participation goals because it uses an existing state agreement. Residents can track how their tax dollars fund technology improvements by following Harris County Commissioners Court meetings. You can contact Mary Cesar at the Harris County Purchasing Office for questions about this contract.
