Hey! Did you know Houston has a free park with giant 18-foot statues near I-10 and I-45? It's called American Statesmanship Park — open weekdays until 6pm. Worth a visit!
American Statesmanship Park — nicknamed 'Mount Rush Hour' by locals — is a free Harris County park where you can stand face-to-face with four giant busts of American history figures. It's a quick, easy stop right where I-10 and I-45 meet in Houston.
The park features four massive busts, each standing 18 feet tall and weighing two tons. The four figures are George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Stephen F. Austin — a founding father of Texas — and Sam Houston, hero of the Texas Revolution. The park is small but memorable, and admission is always free.
Plan a weekday visit any time between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm. The park is easy to reach from the I-10 and I-45 interchange. Bring your camera — these sculptures are seriously impressive up close. Pack a snack if you like, but remember glass containers are not allowed. If you bring a pet, keep them on a leash and clean up after them. Leave the fireworks and alcoholic beverages at home unless you have a Harris County permit.

Love Houston history and public art? Harris County Parks offers other green spaces and cultural spots worth exploring across the region. Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston are both deeply woven into Houston's story — learning more about them adds great context to your visit.
Where else in Houston can you see 18-foot, two-ton sculptures of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Stephen F. Austin, and Sam Houston all in one spot? Sculptor David Adickes created and donated these giants to Harris County in November 2012 as 'A Tribute to American Statesmanship.' It's free, it's local, and it makes a great quick outing for families, history buffs, or anyone passing through.
