Request that the County Judge execute an agreement between Harris County and Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 566 authorizing the District to make certain detention and infrastructure improvements to County property and, upon completion of the improvements, assume responsibility for the ongoing maintenance of the property from the County.
Harris County and MUD No. 566 would share responsibility for detention and infrastructure improvements on County property.
Harris County Commissioners Court introduced an interlocal agreement on August 14, 2026, asking the County Judge to sign a deal with Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 566. The agreement would allow the District to make detention and infrastructure improvements on County property. Once finished, the District would take over ongoing maintenance of that property from the County.
This deal would move responsibility for a detention and infrastructure site from Harris County to a local utility district. Nearby residents may be affected by who manages stormwater or drainage on that property going forward.
