The technology tracks vehicle location, fuel usage, and maintenance needs, helping our county use tax dollars wisely. For Harris County residents, this means faster response times when roads need fixing after storms or daily wear. When you report a pothole or damaged street sign, county engineers can dispatch the closest vehicle quickly. The system also helps prevent vehicle theft and ensures county equipment is being used properly for public projects. This contract covers one year starting May 2026, with options to renew for four more years. The county used a state cooperative contract, which means they got pre-negotiated pricing that saves money.
