FLEX Act

The Fostering Learning and Excellence in Charter Schools Act (FLEX Act) expands the federal Charter Schools Program. It allows grant money to be used for new academic programs, hiring teachers, building repairs, portable classrooms, and student transportation. Schools could also get advance payments. The Department of Education would need to support rural students and students with disabilities, and consult charter school operators before making new rules.
