The Books Save Lives Act is a new bill moving through Congress. On April 9, 2026, the bill was sent to two important House committees for review. These committees will study the bill and decide if it should become law. Two committees received the bill. The first is the Committee on Education and Workforce. This committee handles bills about schools and job training. The second is the Committee on the Judiciary. This committee reviews bills about laws and the court system. Each committee will look at the parts of the bill that matter to them. The Speaker of the House will decide how long each committee gets to review the bill. After the committees finish, they will report back to the full House with their opinions. Members of Congress can support or oppose the bill. Right now, the bill is in the early stages.
