About Alejandra Salinas
Alejandra Salinas serves as Houston City Council Member for At-Large Position 4, having assumed office on January 6, 2026 after winning the December 2025 runoff election. She is the first openly LGBTQ+ Latina elected to Houston City Council and the first Latina elected citywide in nearly 30 years. A third-generation Texan and nationally recognized attorney, Salinas previously served as a partner at Susman Godfrey, where she helped protect Harris County elections, challenged discriminatory school policies, and secured significant legal victories. Her campaign focused on the fundamentals of city government, including affordable and reliable city services, safer neighborhoods, and strong infrastructure for all Houstonians.
