Legacy Community Health has been a trusted health home for Houston's LGBTQ+ community since 1978. They offer a wide range of services — from HIV and STD (sexually transmitted disease) care to gender-affirming treatment, behavioral health, and social support — and welcome everyone, no matter what you can afford to pay.
Legacy offers a full circle of LGBTQ+-focused care under one roof. HIV and STD screening is available to anyone who asks, with your choice of confidential or anonymous testing. HIV treatment goes beyond medication — it includes case management, vision care at the Frost Eye Clinic (funded by the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program), financial help, and wellness services. Gender care covers individual and family therapy, plus psychiatric evaluation and support before and during hormone replacement therapy or gender affirmation surgery. Behavioral health specialists handle psychiatric evaluations and ongoing mental health care, including care for gender non-conforming patients. A social services team helps transgender patients with housing, employment, school advocacy, legal needs, and more. The Body Positive Wellness Center works with you on fitness and muscle health. All services are open to people of any gender, and no one is turned away because of their ability to pay.
Use this resource as your starting point. If you or someone you know needs LGBTQ+-affirming care in Houston, Legacy is ready. Call their Public Health team to ask questions or find out which location and service fits best. You can also browse their HIV and STD provider directory to find a specific care team. No referral, no insurance, and no prior relationship with Legacy is required to get started.
