Hey, did you know Houston has a free park with four giant statues near I-10 and I-45? It's called American Statesmanship Park and it's open on weekdays!
Right where I-10 meets I-45, you'll find one of Houston's quirkiest free spots — American Statesmanship Park. Four massive busts of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Stephen F. Austin, and Sam Houston stand 18 feet tall and weigh two tons each. Locals have nicknamed it 'Mount Rush Hour,' and it's easy to see why. Sculptor David Adickes created and donated all four statues to Harris County in November 2012.
The park features four 18-foot, two-ton busts honoring George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Stephen F. Austin, and Sam Houston. David Adickes — the Houston sculptor also known for his giant Sam Houston statue in Huntsville — created these as 'A Tribute to American Statesmanship' and donated them to Harris County. The park is small but free and open to the public on weekdays.
Plan a quick weekday visit before or after work, or squeeze it into a lunch break. Admission is free, so all you need is a little time. Check the park hours before you go — it's only open Monday through Friday. Keep the rules in mind: no glass containers, no alcohol without a permit, no open fires, and keep pets on a leash. Park in a designated lot, since overnight vehicles may be towed.
