Good first step: Share neighbors and local businesses
Tell your neighbors about this exciting World Cup event coming to Houston! Local businesses should prepare for international visitors on June 20, 2026.
On June 20, 2026, thousands of Netherlands soccer fans will dress in bright orange and march 2.5 miles through Houston streets before their World Cup match. The Orange Fanwalk is a cherished Dutch tradition — and this time, Houston gets to be part of it.
The Orange Fanwalk is organized by the KNVB — that stands for Koninklijke Nederlandse Voetbalbond, the Netherlands' national soccer federation — along with the Houston Police Department (HPD). The famous Oranje Bus, a fan staple shipped over from Europe, will lead the procession. Street closures will roll out as the march moves through the route. The Netherlands faces Sweden at noon at NRG Stadium the same day.
You do not need to be a Dutch soccer fan to enjoy this. Post up along the march route to watch the parade of orange pass by. If you live or work near Rice Village or the Medical Center, expect a festive, lively morning. Check local traffic updates before you head out, since HPD will be managing rolling street closures. If you want to see the match itself, the game kicks off at noon at NRG Stadium.
June 20, 2026. Live entertainment begins at 8 a.m. The march steps off at 8:45 a.m.
The route runs from Rice University Stadium to NRG Stadium (called Houston Stadium during the World Cup). The march passes through the Rice Village and Medical Center area.
The Orange Fanwalk is one piece of Houston's larger role as a FIFA World Cup 2026 host city. Events like this show how international soccer brings new energy to our neighborhoods and connects Houstonians with visitors from around the world.
Dutch soccer fans have a long tradition of walking together to the stadium on match day. It builds excitement, celebrates their team's culture, and creates a shared experience for supporters. Bringing that tradition to Houston means our city gets a front-row seat to something truly special — a sea of orange filling our streets before a major World Cup match.
