The Houston Health Department protects and improves the health of Houston's diverse population through disease prevention, health promotion, and clinical services. HHD operates neighborhood health centers providing primary care, HIV/STI testing and treatment, dental services, and mental health services on a sliding fee scale. HHD administers the WIC program for Houston, provides immunizations for children and adults, leads communicable disease surveillance, and operates the City's vital statistics office.
