Learn money skills and build financial stability with free counseling and job training.
Financial stress touches every part of life, from housing stability to family well-being. This program recognizes that sustainable financial health requires more than just budgeting tips — it takes job skills, benefit knowledge, and ongoing support. The bundled approach means participants tackle multiple financial challenges at once rather than piece by piece.
The Financial Opportunity Center teaches money management skills through workshops and one-on-one coaching, while also providing job search help and connecting people to public benefits. The program bundles financial education, employment coaching, and benefit screening into a research-based approach designed to create lasting financial stability. Participants get hands-on training in budgeting and credit-building, plus resume help, interview practice, and job placement support.
VOA Texas runs three Financial Opportunity Centers across the Houston area: one on Yale Street in Independence Heights, plus locations in Conroe and The Woodlands. The program serves Houston and surrounding Montgomery County communities.
