The Salvation Army Greater Houston Area Command is the local arm of The Salvation Army (Southern Territory) providing social services across the Houston region from about 17 locations. It offers emergency shelter and transitional housing, disaster relief, rent/utility and basic-needs assistance, youth and senior programs, rehabilitation, and seasonal Christmas assistance.
This free assistance helps income- and need-based clients with utility bills and deposits, rent or mortgage, prescriptions, food, clothing, and transport vouchers. Rent assistance is offered in person at 2208 Main St on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday, 9-11am, through a United Way partner.
