Life gets hard sometimes. Maybe a utility bill is past due, the fridge is empty, rent is coming up fast, or you need a safe place to go. The 2-1-1 helpline exists exactly for moments like these. Specialists know the local landscape — Houston food pantries, rental assistance programs, child care options, veterans services, and shelter — so you don't have to figure it all out on your own.
United Way of Greater Houston is a nonprofit organization that helps people in the Houston area build better lives. They focus on three main areas: helping families reach financial stability, supporting early childhood and youth development programs, and connecting people to health care resources. They run the 211 Texas/United Way HELPLINE, which is available 24 hours a day to help people find food, shelter, disaster recovery support, and other services. They also work with donors, volunteers, and other nonprofits to address the community's most pressing needs, and they support programs that help veterans, families in crisis, and anyone struggling to make ends meet.
