We will show what we know and where it came from.
Match with a Houston-area high school student to help them build confidence and plan for their future through weekly contact.
Many high school students need a trusted adult to help them plan for their future. A mentor can help a student feel more confident and think about what success means to them — whether that is college, a job, or military service.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star is a Texas-wide nonprofit that runs one-to-one youth mentoring programs. Its Greater Houston chapter connects children (called 'Littles') with caring adult volunteer mentors (called 'Bigs') who meet with them two to four times a month. Mentoring can happen in the community, at school, or online. The goal is to help kids build confidence, do better in school, and develop skills they need to succeed in life. The Houston chapter serves thousands of young people across Harris, Fort Bend, and Brazoria Counties, and maintains a physical office and event space in Houston.
The Resource Center maps the services, programs, and benefits across the city — and the people behind them.
