Primarily online and remote. In-person events are held at two Houston campuses: Houston Academy for International Studies (1810 Stuart St, Houston, TX 77004) and KIPP Northeast (9680 Mesa Drive, Houston, TX 77078).
Students matched with a Mentor2.0 volunteer are twice as likely to attend college compared to their peers. Among graduating seniors in the program, 97.5 percent are enrolled in college, enlisted in the military, or employed after graduation, and 98 percent show improved attitudes toward risky behavior. One email a week from you can help a student build real confidence and a clearer vision for their future.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star is a Texas-wide nonprofit that runs one-to-one youth mentoring programs. Its Greater Houston chapter connects children (called 'Littles') with caring adult volunteer mentors (called 'Bigs') who meet with them two to four times a month. Mentoring can happen in the community, at school, or online. The goal is to help kids build confidence, do better in school, and develop skills they need to succeed in life. The Houston chapter serves thousands of young people across Harris, Fort Bend, and Brazoria Counties, and maintains a physical office and event space in Houston.
