Founded in 1999, HYPE Freedom School is a nonprofit that empowers youth from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and their families through equitable, literacy-based programming. Selected by the Children's Defense Fund in 2000 to sponsor CDF Freedom Schools, it is the first Greater Houston-area and oldest CDF Freedom Schools site in Texas.
Youth mentorship program from HYPE Freedom School, a United Way of Greater Houston partner, offering leadership development and service-learning projects, with college-student interns serving as instructors and mentors to young people.
