HARC helps Houston neighborhoods prepare for flooding and environmental challenges by connecting residents with tools and training to build stronger communities
HARC's Community Resilience Initiatives help Houston neighborhoods prepare for and recover from challenges like flooding, extreme weather, and environmental health concerns. This program connects residents with tools, training, and resources to make our communities stronger together. Houston faces real climate challenges.
Our neighborhoods flood during heavy rains. Air quality affects our families' health. These problems are big, but our community has the power to address them when we work together.
HARC provides workshops on emergency preparedness, helps neighborhoods create resilience plans, and connects residents with grants and technical support. The program teaches us how to protect our air and water, reduce flood risks, and build networks of neighbors who look out for each other. This matters because resilient communities recover faster from disasters and create healthier places for families to live.
When neighborhoods have strong connections and good plans, everyone benefits - especially our children and elderly residents who need extra support during emergencies. You can get involved by attending HARC workshops, joining your neighborhood resilience planning meetings, or connecting with other residents working on environmental health projects. Visit HARC's website to find upcoming events in your area or contact their community team to learn how your neighborhood can start building resilience together.
