Environmental Education Programs for All Ages

Houston Audubon brings nature education directly to our community through hundreds of hands-on programs each year. This respected organization teaches children and adults about the birds, wildlife, and natural areas that make Houston special. Their trained staff and volunteers visit schools, libraries, and community centers across Harris County.

They also lead field trips to local parks, wetlands, and nature preserves where families can see herons, egrets, and migrating birds up close. These programs matter because Houston sits along the Central Flyway, one of North America's major bird migration routes. Our bayous, prairies, and coastal areas support over 300 bird species.

When we understand our local environment, we make better decisions about protecting green spaces in our neighborhoods. Kids who join these programs often become environmental leaders in their schools and communities. Adults learn practical skills like creating bird-friendly gardens and reducing pollution in local waterways.

They offer programs year-round, with special activities during spring and fall migration seasons when our area comes alive with traveling birds.
