After-school hours matter. This program fills that time with real learning, movement, and connection. Campus-certified teachers help with homework, social-emotional learning builds empathy and critical thinking, and every activity is designed to keep your child curious, safe, and engaged until you pick them up.
The YMCA of Greater Houston strengthens communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. With 29 branches across the region, we offer everything from childcare and after-school programs to fitness facilities, camps, and community health initiatives.
Each day follows a five-part flow. First, staff welcome kids with group games and a snack that includes a whole grain, fruit, and water. Next comes Brain Power Hour — dedicated homework time with certified teachers on hand to help. Then kids dig into STEM and literacy activities using evidence-based curriculum developed with partners like Scholastic. Enrichment follows, with rotating options like music, art, theater, DIY crafts, and service learning. The day wraps up with Energize, a structured physical play session held outside, in the gym, or on the playground.
