Harris County Commissioners Court is being asked to approve overtime pay for Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) meteorologists who worked extra hours during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. These staff members monitored heat, lightning, and storms at NRG Stadium and the downtown Fan Fest to protect players, fans, and first responders. File 26-4421 was introduced June 25, 2026, and is on the Court's agenda for July 9, 2026.
Harris County taxpayers fund HCFCD staff. This vote decides whether county meteorologists who worked extra hours during FIFA World Cup events get reimbursed for that overtime.
