Harris County Commissioners Court will vote on July 9, 2026 on a formal agreement with Westchase District to fully rebuild Hayes Road in West Houston. The project will add new pavement, underground utilities, sidewalks, pedestrian lighting, and fix drainage problems. Hayes Road runs past Houston Community College's Alief–Hayes Campus and serves thousands of residents in multifamily communities between Westheimer and Richmond Avenue. The work is part of Commissioner Lesley Briones' 2025 Places 4 People initiative.

This vote decides whether Harris County signs an agreement to rebuild Hayes Road near HCC Alief–Hayes Campus, adding pavement, sidewalks, lighting, and drainage fixes for residents in that area.
