Harris County Commissioners Court approved overtime pay for non-exempt law enforcement officers doing election security work during the 2025–2026 election cycles. Officers will be paid at the time-and-a-half rate, also called "z-time." The measure was introduced October 3, 2025 and passed October 16, 2025.
County law enforcement officers working at polling places or election sites during the 2025–2026 election cycles will be paid overtime rates for that work, which affects the county budget funded by local taxpayers.
