The Harris County Commissioners Court is being asked to approve several out-of-state travel and training requests from county departments and employees. Under Texas law and Harris County policy, employees must get Commissioners Court approval before traveling outside Texas on official business — otherwise, travel costs cannot be reimbursed. This agenda item (File 26-3957) bundles multiple requests into one vote and is scheduled for the July 9, 2026 Commissioners Court meeting.
Harris County employees want to travel out of state for work. Taxpayer money pays for these trips, and state law requires elected commissioners to vote yes before any costs can be reimbursed.
