Harris County Commissioners Court is considering an agreement with the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) to receive federal CDBG-MIT grant funding for the Crosby Eastgate Mitigation Bank Project in Precinct 3. The project restores wetlands on about 240 acres of county-owned land along Cedar Bayou, east of Crosby-Eastgate Road. It creates wetland mitigation credits that offset environmental damage caused by flood control and road construction projects across Harris County.
This agreement brings federal grant money to restore wetlands near Cedar Bayou in the Crosby area. The restored land would be used to offset environmental impacts from other county construction projects.
