Harris County seeks to extend its contract with Better World Books for selling surplus library materials through December 2026, at no added cost.
Harris County Commissioners Court introduced a contract amendment on July 9, 2026, to extend an agreement with Better World Books for the sale of surplus, worn-out, and damaged library books and materials. The extension would run from August 31 to December 1, 2026, with no price increases.
Harris County libraries have old or damaged books and materials they no longer need. This contract decides how those items are sold or removed. Neighbors may care if they use county library branches.
