Harris County may direct HR to survey county employees who care for young children about their needs, challenges, and experiences.
Harris County Commissioners Court is being asked to approve a plan for the Human Resources & Talent (HRT) department to survey county employees who care for young children. The survey would look at their needs, challenges, and experiences — such as child care access, scheduling, or workplace support. HRT would bring the results and recommendations back to Commissioners Court on October 6, 2026. The item is on the July 9, 2026 meeting agenda.
Harris County employs thousands of residents. A survey of county employees with young children could shape future workplace policies or benefits that affect those workers and, indirectly, county services.
