Harris County Commissioners Court is being asked to let Precinct 4 apply for the Apache Corporation Tree Grant Program for 2026–27. The grant would give $7,000 worth of trees at no cost to the county. Precinct 4 serves about 1.2 million residents across 55 parks and more than 14,000 acres of green space. Past grants helped plant trees in Alief and Gulfton, neighborhoods that can run 10 to 17 degrees hotter than the rest of the county.

Commissioners Court decides whether Precinct 4 can apply for free trees. If approved, the county submits an application. If awarded, trees could be placed in Precinct 4 parks or green spaces.
