Request by Housing and Community Development for approval to accept an amendment to an agreement with the Texas General Land Office for the Harris County Community Development Block Grant Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) Program - Infrastructure and Planning Project.
Harris County Commissioners Court is considering an amendment to its GLO agreement for the $750M CDBG-MIT flood mitigation program.
Harris County Commissioners Court is being asked to approve a change to an agreement with the Texas General Land Office (GLO) for the CDBG-MIT Infrastructure and Planning Project. This federal program uses Community Development Block Grant Mitigation funds to lower flood and disaster risks in Harris County. In 2022, HUD awarded Harris County $750 million in CDBG-MIT funds tied to Hurricane Harvey. The item (File 26-4423) is scheduled for the July 9, 2026 Commissioners Court meeting.
Harris County is changing a deal with the state land office that controls how $750 million in federal flood-mitigation money from Hurricane Harvey gets used in the county.
