This bill would create emergency grants for public and nonprofit health care facilities and home health agencies. The grants would pay eligible health care workers up to $13 per hour in extra hazardous duty pay during a declared emergency or disaster. Workers who qualify include nurses, medical technologists, public health workers, orderlies, and janitorial staff in health care settings whose jobs cannot be done remotely.
If a disaster is declared, nearby public or nonprofit health care facilities and home health agencies could receive grants to pay extra wages to workers who cannot do their jobs from home.
