Harris County Commissioners Court approved a partnership with the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) to host the UNCF Walk for Education on September 26, 2026, at Tom Bass Park. This memorandum of understanding allows UNCF to use county park facilities for their annual fundraising walk that supports college scholarships and educational programs for students. The UNCF Walk for Education brings together families, students, and community members to raise money for historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and scholarship programs. These events typically include a family-friendly walk, educational booths, student performances, and opportunities to learn about college funding resources. For Harris County residents, this partnership means free access to educational resources and scholarship information right in our community.
