Harris County Partners with Houston Parks Board for Sims Bayou Trail Gaps

Harris County Commissioners Court approved an agreement with Houston Parks Board to design and build three new trail connections along Sims Bayou. These projects will fill missing gaps in our greenway network, creating safer paths for walking, biking, and other ways to get around. Sims Bayou runs through southeast Harris County, connecting neighborhoods from the Medical Center to Hobby Airport area. Right now, people face broken trail connections that force them onto busy streets or prevent them from reaching parks, schools, and jobs by bike or foot. This project will create continuous pathways that connect communities safely. The new connections will help families reach recreation areas, students bike to school, and workers commute without cars. Better trail networks also boost property values and bring businesses to nearby areas. The work happens in Precinct 1, which includes parts of southeast Houston, Pasadena, and surrounding areas. Multimodal connections mean the trails work for wheelchairs, strollers, bikes, and pedestrians. This builds on Houston's growing network of bayou trails that already connect downtown to suburbs.
