When someone in our community has a mental health crisis, specially trained deputies will respond instead of regular officers. This means safer, better help for people experiencing mental health emergencies and their families.
Two trained deputies will respond to mental health crises at Harris Center starting May 2026, providing safer and more appropriate help for people experiencing mental health emergencies.
Regular patrol officers without specialized mental health training would continue responding to mental health crises, which may not provide the best outcomes for people in need.
