Harris County Gets Land Access for Woodridge Flood Control Project

Harris County Commissioners Court approved an agreement with Montgomery County to access land needed for the Woodridge Stormwater Detention Basin project. This flood control project will build two compartments to capture and hold stormwater in the San Jacinto River Watershed during heavy rains. The detention basin protects neighborhoods from flooding by storing excess water temporarily instead of letting it rush downstream. This matters because flooding destroys homes, businesses, and disrupts our daily lives. The San Jacinto River Watershed covers parts of northeast Harris County and surrounding areas.
