Overview
The West Harris County Transit Demand Study is a major planning effort to improve how people travel in our growing western communities. Harris County Toll Road Authority leads this study with Harris County Precinct 4, METRO, Houston, and Fort Bend County. They are working together to understand what our region needs for better roads and transit. The study focuses on the Westpark Tollway area from South Gessner Road to Fulshear, including plans to extend the tollway. This matters because west Harris County is growing fast. More families are moving to areas like Katy, Cypress, and Fulshear. Our current roads get crowded during rush hour. People spend too much time stuck in traffic instead of with their families. This study will create a plan to fix these problems. It will look at adding lanes, improving intersections, and connecting different types of transportation. The study affects everyone who drives, takes the bus, or walks in west Harris County. If you work downtown but live in Katy, this could make your commute faster. If you take METRO, this could mean better bus connections. To stay informed, visit the Harris County Precinct 4 website or attend public meetings when they are announced. You can also contact Precinct 4's office to ask questions about the study.
