Do you have a skill, story, or idea worth sharing? Houston Public Library (HPL) welcomes program proposals from community members and organizations. If your idea is a good fit, you could bring a free event to library neighbors across Houston.

HPL accepts program proposals from customers and community organizations. Every proposed program must be free and open to the public. The library reviews each submission based on three things: the overall quality of the idea, the presenter's experience and expertise, and how well the program fits current community needs. Because the library receives many submissions, only proposals that match an open programming slot will get a response.

Before you submit, make sure your idea checks the basics. It must be free for all attendees. Think through your own experience or credentials as a presenter — HPL weighs that carefully. Be specific about what the program offers and who it serves. Then mind the lead time: summer programs need a submission at least 9 months before your target date, and all other programs need at least 6 months. The earlier you submit, the better your chances of fitting into the schedule.
