Tony's Place is a Houston nonprofit in the Montrose area that has been a safe harbor for LGBTQ+ youth since 2016. It serves young people ages 14 to 25 who are homeless or unstably housed, offering hot meals, clothing, showers, laundry, hygiene supplies, mental health care, and job support. The organization runs on community donations and volunteers — and your help makes a real difference.
Tony's Place runs a day center and drop-in resource center where youth can access hot meals, clean clothes, showers, laundry facilities, and personal hygiene items. Beyond physical needs, the organization offers mental health care, individualized case management, and employment support. Safe, welcoming spaces for activities and education round out what the center provides. Tony's Place also hosts fundraising events throughout the year to keep those services running.
You can support Tony's Place in several ways. Donating everyday items — clothes, food, water, shampoo, razors — directly supplies what youth need. Monetary gifts keep the doors open. Volunteering is hands-on and flexible: roles include doing laundry, picking out clothing for individuals, acting as a personal shopper, and helping staff run events. You can also spread the word in your own neighborhood so that young people who need help know where to find it.

More than 40 percent of homeless youth identify as LGBTQ+, yet most shelters and services focus on adults. Tony's Place fills that gap. In January 2025 alone, the organization welcomed clients nearly 950 times, served more than 140 individuals, and provided around 900 meals in a single month. Those numbers show just how much this community needs a place like this — and how much it has grown.
