Alexander Deussen Park stretches across 309 acres along Lake Houston in Harris County. Whether you want to fish off a pier, launch a boat, let the kids loose on a playground, or walk a shaded trail, this park has room for it. A Senior Center and community center are on-site, and you can even reserve a pavilion for your next family gathering.
The park includes two boat launches and a renovated T-Pier for docking, plus fishing access from piers and shorelines all around the property. Five playgrounds are spread across the grounds. Fourteen pavilions of various sizes come with BBQ grills, picnic tables, restrooms, and parking. Four trailheads lead to walking and jogging trails. An active Senior Center and a community center round out the amenities.
Plan your visit around the seasonal hours so you have plenty of time. If you want a pavilion for a party or cookout, reserve it in advance through the Precinct One Community Portal. Boaters should review the Lake Houston Water Safety Map before heading out — it shows boat ramp locations and nearby resources like Lake Patrol and Houston Fire Department stations. Leash your pets, pack out your trash, skip the glass containers, and stick to designated grills for cooking. Those simple steps keep the park great for everyone.

Deussen Park started as a gift. In 1956, petroleum geologist Alexander Deussen donated this land to Harris County so the whole community could enjoy it. Today it remains one of the largest free green spaces near Lake Houston, offering something for nearly every age and interest.
