Getting there
Countywide — Community Unit Probation Services (CUPS) offices and satellite locations throughout Harris County. Some counseling services are also available in the home.
A brush with the juvenile justice system doesn't have to define a young person's future. This program keeps youth close to family and community while giving them real tools — mental health support, mentorship, job skills, and more — to move forward in a positive direction.
Services cover a wide range of needs. Here is what is available:
• Community supervision so youth stay home instead of being placed in a facility
• Mental health counseling and psychiatric services through The Harris Center for Mental Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD)
• Substance abuse screening and intensive outpatient treatment through licensed counselors
• Mentoring, life skills, academic help, and career planning through the reVision program
• Gang intervention and close supervision through Youth Empowerment Services and Supervision (YESS), working alongside the Mayor's Anti-Gang Office
• Legal and educational advocacy for youth and families through Disability Rights Texas
• Specialized supervision for youth with mental health needs, IDD, or sex offense charges through the Therapeutic Connections Unit (TCU)
• High-risk diversion and rehabilitation through the Renew Inspire Support Empower (RISE) program, as an alternative to Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD) placement
• Wrap-around advocacy services through the Harris County Advocate Program (H-CAP)
• Skill-building workshops on emotional intelligence, goal-setting, and self-awareness through the POWER+ON program
• Shoplifting prevention education through the National Association for Shoplifting Prevention
• Service-learning projects that build civic responsibility
• Informal alternatives to court through the Diversion and Intervention Unit (DIU)
Therapeutic counseling is offered in both English and Spanish.
