About this resource
Getting there
Independence Heights: 4808 Yale St, Houston, TX 77018 | Montgomery County (Conroe): 731 W. Davis, Conroe, TX 77301 | United Way THRIVE Center: 1600 Lake Front Circle, The Woodlands, TX 77380
Financial stress touches everything — your housing, your kids' future, your peace of mind. These centers combine money education, job coaching, and benefit access so you can move forward on all three fronts at once. When families in Independence Heights and across Houston gain financial footing, the whole neighborhood gets stronger.
Services fall into three areas. First, financial coaching: workshops and one-on-one sessions covering budgets, credit scores, debt reduction, and saving for big goals like a home. You also get access to savings and credit-building products through partner banks and credit unions. Second, employment services: personal job coaching, resume help, mock interviews, job placement support, and help keeping a job once you land it. Industries include healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, construction, transportation, information technology, and behavioral health. Third, income supports: staff screen you for public benefits, help you apply, and connect you to community resources for food, clothing, and more. The Independence Heights center is backed by LISC (Local Initiatives Support Corporation) and the United Way THRIVE collaboration.
