Grassroots Voter Engagement

The Texas Organizing Project runs the largest independent voter outreach program in Texas. They help over 200,000 voters of color participate in every election. This matters because when more people vote, our communities get better representation and services.

In Houston, this means more voices in decisions about schools, roads, healthcare, and housing. The organization focuses on Black and Latino voters who often face barriers to voting. They train community members to talk to neighbors about elections.

They also help people register to vote and learn about candidates. During election season, volunteers knock on doors in neighborhoods across Houston. They share information about voting dates, locations, and ballot issues.

This grassroots approach builds lasting connections between neighbors. It helps people understand how local elections affect their daily lives. The project works year-round, not just during big elections.

Getting involved is simple. You can volunteer to talk to voters in your neighborhood. You can attend training sessions to learn about local issues.
