Houston Habitat for Humanity helps working families become homeowners by building affordable houses together. Families invest 250 hours of sweat equity, working alongside volunteers to build their own homes, plus complete financial literacy and home maintenance classes. They then buy their homes with zero-interest mortgages that make monthly payments affordable for working families.

When families own homes, children do better in school, neighborhoods become more stable, and local businesses thrive. These homes become stable foundations for families to build wealth and transform entire blocks with new energy and investment in established neighborhoods.
Families can apply through Houston Habitat's website or attend an information session, focusing on need, ability to pay an affordable mortgage, and willingness to partner. Volunteers can help build homes on weekends, and corporate groups or faith communities can sponsor builds.
