Nearly 1,000 dogs and cats in Harris and Galveston counties get monthly food deliveries.
When seniors were sharing their own meals with pets, Houston created a program to help both. Animeals delivers pet food and basic vet care to keep companions together.
Animeals delivers free pet food monthly to dogs and cats belonging to seniors who get Meals on Wheels. The program also covers basic vet care like spaying, neutering, and flea prevention. It started when volunteers noticed homebound seniors were sharing their own meals with their pets.
The program serves homebound seniors across Harris and Galveston counties, with operations based in Houston's 77002 area.
Available across Houston.
For many homebound seniors, a pet provides crucial companionship and emotional support. When choosing between feeding themselves or their animals, seniors shouldn't have to sacrifice either. Keeping pets healthy means seniors keep the relationship that sustains them.
The service connects through existing Meals on Wheels enrollment, with volunteers handling monthly deliveries alongside meal routes. You can also volunteer to help with deliveries, warehouse work, or pet food drives.
